ShowMeTheSetlist.com has launched!

Hi.

This is the blog for all things related to ShowMeTheSetlist.com. If you haven’t checked out our site yet, please do that now. I’ll wait…

For the laziest among you, here’s a screen shot of the front page and a setlist page:

Pretty cool site, huh? ShowMeTheSetlist.com is a new web site that enables users to catalog the music concert experience like never before. The web site allows users to create individual pages for each live show. Concert-goers post song setlists, discuss and review performances, as well as create online galleries full of photos, videos, scanned ticket stubs, gig posters, actual setlists and more. It’s like creating a virtual scrapbook page for each show, except much cooler. Click here for more about the site, including what the hell a setlist is.

My name is Corey Lorinsky and I am the blogger for ShowMeTheSetlist.com and co-creator. I will be leading you through the launch of the site and updating you on its progress and growth. I am your source for all information about the site and welcome your questions, comments and criticism. Also, if you want to help with the site in anyway, please contact me as well. Just leave a comment on this blog or email me at admin (at) showmethesetlist.com.

If you’re interested in how our mainframe works, have suggestions for functionality issues, found some type of bug, or would like to see a cool new feature you can contact Daril Vilhena, at webmaster (at) showmethesetlist.com.

The concept for this site first came to me several years ago and has evolved significantly since then. I am a frequent concert-goer and I love the live show experience. However, I have always liked to check out recent and past setlists for any artist before going to a concert. For me, I enjoy a concert most when I know the songs being played. That may seem obvious, but it allows you to have a more satisfying experience by having a deeper connection with the music. It’s not unusual to go see a band whose entire music catalog you do not own. You may be missing out on some classic songs that will be played live. Also, if I have already seen a band several times, I like to check out past setlists to see if the setlist has changed or if the artist is playing any new songs on tour. Going to a concert can be expensive and time-consuming so it’s nice to know it’s going to be worth it.

Giving people a platform to post and organize setlists was, and still is, the core idea of the site. But I didn’t want the site to just be a directory of setlists. I wanted this site to be a place people could gather after a concert and collaboratively create something really engaging and fun. From linking to YouTube videos, to reviewing each show to creating online galleries filled with images, I hope you enjoy the site.

Thank you for reading this first blog post (and hopefully visiting ShowMeTheSetlist.com, creating content and telling all your friends). Expect frequent blog posts in the coming weeks as I highlight the different features of the site and respond to questions, comments and critiques.

I welcome your feedback.

As far as it goes, it’s very good.

    My requests would be,

    On the main browse page:
    1) The ability to sort by date.
    2) indicators of whether shows have vid/images

    On a setlist page:
    1) indicator of whether images exist
    2) simple ability to ‘add link’ with category button (homepage/review/more info) url & name fields.
    3) ability to upload more than 3 images at a time

I absolutely love your website [:

I have a suggestion though! I think it would be awesome if there was a login feature. &We could view the setlists we’ve uploaded&be able to easily update them!
